The Institute Of Meteorology And Water Management – National Research Institute has introduced a new type of hydrological warning – hydrological drought warning* From 1 May 2020 on, such warnings will be developed and issued in the period from 1 May through 31 October. The change is linked to the increasing drought hazard in Poland.

The National Water Management Authority has announced further tenders for channel retention investments, whose task is to improve the water balance in agricultural areas. Due to the ongoing drought, an additional PLN 154.7 million has been designated for implementing 645 investment tasks throughout Poland.

On the 22nd of March, we celebrate the World Water Day. It is also our holiday – the employees of water management. Every day, we care about the country’s water resources. This is our mission, passion and a great responsibility. We know perfectly well that water is important in every aspect of modern life, and the preservation of its resources is also key for future generations. This is the challenge we are taking on today, the most important, especially in the era of changing climate and shrinking water resources, while the population of the country and of the world is growing.
